Activities
Oriented towards maritime activities, always popular with the greatest sailors, Cannes has found its place as leader in the nautical world (see ’International Yachting Festival’ and ’Régates Royales’). In addition to champions in water sports, Cannes stands out in other athletic disciplines like tennis, cycling, football, in particular with the training school that produced Zinedine Zidane, volleyball (several times French and European champions), swimming, riding (see Jumping International de Cannes), as well as pétanque, pelota, classic boxing and martial arts.
From 12 to 15 June 2008 - International Jumping
In its unique setting just a few metres from La Croisette, Cannes’s Stade des Hespérides will host one of the world’s most elegant horseshows . For those days, a contest is open to enthusiasts from the world over, young and old, holding over thirty events. The unique La Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre will close this international competition with three live performances.
From 10 to 15 September 2008 - Yachting Festival
In recent years, the Cannes International Yachting Festival has become the leading Mediterranean boat show, second only to the Paris Boat Show. All manufacturers are present, with the latest worldwide innovations attracting some 50,000 visitors and customers. After this worldclass boat show, the famous Royal Regattas® take centre stage in the Bay of Cannes, bringing together old vessels and the world’s most majestic sailboats.

From 21 to 28 September 2008 - Regates Royales
Every year, the Royal Regattas® attract over 150 yachts of all sizes, meaning a little over a thousand crewmembers, not to mention all their technical assistants, visitors and, of course, the national and international press, and without forgetting the organization, Racing Committees, International Jury and institutional and commercial partners.
In all, 1,500 people live on the site of the Old Port of Cannes for ten days, in a wonderful array of pontoons, anchorages and tents livening up the Port in the three days separating the Boat Show (International Yachting Festival) and the Royal Regattas®. The participants, like the visitors and spectators, feel as much ‘at home’ on land as on the water, in a cosy and convivial site.
All this just a stone’s throw from the many hotels and restaurants offered in and around the Old Port and in the heart of Cannes, where you can dine in the mild September evenings whilst admiring the forest of masts lit up each night by projectors.
From 26 to 29 September 2008 - Cannes Golf Classic
The French Riviera Cote d’Azur is pleased to announce a new International Amateur Golf Tournament for two-player teams. The event will be played on three of the best and challenging golf courses of the French Riviera: Royal Mougins Golf Club, Golf Country Club of Cannes Mougins and golf of Saint Donat.
